Tips for keeping your food safe in the car

Keep Your Food Safe
If you want to keep a culinary disaster from happening on the road, we have a few tips on how to keep your food safe in the car.

We all know that the holidays include a potentially belt-widening number of amazing meals. Because these meals are always better with family, you will probably find yourself driving to and from get-togethers with food in your car. If you want to keep a culinary disaster from happening on the road, we have a few tips on how to keep your food safe in the car.

Casseroles

If you are bringing along a casserole, we recommend using a cardboard box that’s big enough to fit the dish and a few towels. Place the dish in the box and surround it with the towels to help keep it warm during transit.

Pie

Pies are an indulgent holiday favorite. While a dedicated pie carrier is the best way to transport a pie, another option is to take an empty pie plate and place it on top of your pie. Then, wrap both pie pans with foil to keep them together.

Cold Food

If you are bringing along a cold dish, break out the summer cooler. If you don’t have a cooler, you can use a cardboard box. Either way, surround the dish with ice packs or ice cubes to keep it cold while you drive.

Baked Goods

The simplest food to take with you in the car is baked goods, like rolls, muffins, or cookies. Simply put those in a covered container and you are ready to go.

All of us at Village Motors of Conover want to wish you a happy holiday season. If you’re looking for a new car for the New Year, stop by and go for a few test drives.
